My years training at the hub have been the most challenging of my life.

You are pushed to grow and develop in your ability and commitment. It isn’t easy. It is uncomfortable to admit you are not currently the actor you want to be. The coaches are honest with you, they champion you to work to your potential and for that I am incredibly grateful. If not for that honesty and support I do not know if I would have had the courage to face what’s getting in my way. What I have achieved over the past four years as a result is more than I ever could have imagined.

The Actors Hub isn’t for the faint of heart. Then again, neither is the industry. Before coming to the Hub, I was making very naive assumptions about the craft. My training here has opened my eyes that you cannot be on autopilot as an actor, which I should’ve realised sooner. Having focus and grit is essential if you want to stay in the work. Of course, this means being held accountable when you fall below the bar. This aint your extra curricular speech and drama class, and that’s a good thing.

Don’t expect to walk in and get instant gratification for your so called ‘acting talent’. Where does that get you? If you can’t hear accomplished and EXPERIENCED coaches being brutally honest with you, how can you be honest with an audience? You will only alienate and insult them. And if you can’t handle that little reality check, you simply aren’t cut out for acting. Go settle for a TikTok account instead.

I came here to acting school saying “I want to be the best I can possibly be.” The Actors’ Hub has never let me be anything but that.

Amanda and the coaches here have always seen me as my potential, rather than who I was at any given time. The Hub has never let me settle. Every time I improve, Amanda says “Okay…what next?” Her pursuit for honesty, endless learning and your personal greatness is infectious. You cannot help but want to strive to be better.

Amanda has often said “I’m not excited about your first oscar, I’ll be excited about your second.”
